Why it looks right
Most "pixel" apps just blur your photo into big squares. Pixel Cam does the part that actually matters: it maps every pixel to a real hardware palette and dithers the difference.

Game Boy DMG, PICO-8, C64 and more — the exact color sets those machines shipped with, not an approximation laid over your photo.
Authentic dithering
Ordered dithering weaves the few colors you have into shades you don't — the checkerboard gradients that made 4-color hardware look like more.
Live viewfinder
The effect is applied before you shoot, so you frame the picture you're actually going to get. Tweak the palette and resolution and watch it change in your hand.
Nothing leaves your phone
